Here are a few example entries of what you might put into a class calendar
Example: Common entries for an academic calendar could be the first day of school, a holiday break, a 2 hour long school-wide assembly, and first semester finals week.
To add an entry for the first day of school, you will use an 'All Day Event'. - Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
- Fill in the first event details:
- what: First day of school.
- when: Start Tuesday 09/08/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the starting day), click All Day Event.
- calendar: Select the school academic calendar from the drop down (i.e. G1 High School Academic Calendar).
- description: First day of the 2009-2010 Academic School Year.
- Click Save. Now the first day of school will appear on the academic calendar.
For a holiday break, you will use an 'All Day Event' that spans multiple days: - Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
- Fill in the second activity details:
- what: Autumn Holiday Break.
- when: Thursday 11/26/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the day), click All Day Event. Then click the second date (the end date) - in this case 11/30/09.
- calendar: Select the school academic calendar from the drop down (i.e. G1 High School Academic Calendar).
- description: School will be closed for the Autumn Holiday Break.
- Click Save. Now the holiday break will span multiple days on the school academic calendar.
For a 2 hour school-wide assembly (or other specific duration event), you will use a general calendar entry: - Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
- Fill in the second activity details:
- what: School assembly.
- when: Tuesday 10/27/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the day), Type in the time - in this case 10:00AM to 12:00PM.
- calendar: Select the school academic calendar from the drop down (i.e. G1 High School Academic Calendar).
- description: School-wide assembly featuring a special guest.
- Click Save. Now the school assembly will span a few hours on the calendar, if in day or week view, or will show up with the starting time in the month view.
For scheduling a finals week, you will also use an 'All Day Event' that spans multiple days: - Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
- Fill in the second activity details:
- what: Finals week.
- when: Monday 12/14/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the day), click All Day Event. Then click the second date (the end date) - in this case 12/18/09.
- calendar: Select the school academic calendar from the drop down (i.e. G1 High School Academic Calendar).
- description: All classes will be on finals schedule during finals week. You can also include the exact schedule breakdown within the description of the event, or link to a Google Doc/Spreadsheet with the timetable.
- Click Save. Now the finals week will span multiple days on the school academic calendar.
