Here are a few example entries of what you might put into a project calendar

Example:
Let's say for the 9th grade research project there is a milestone of completing research by 10/16, the first paper draft is due 11/16, peer edits are taking place the week of 11/16, and the final paper draft is due 12/18.
Unless you have a specific hour that these are due, you will use 'All Day' events for these milestones and due dates. Milestones can be suggestions for keeping the project well-paced and on track, while due dates can be the actual deadlines for materials.

For the first milestone, create an 'All Day' event:
  1. Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
  2. Fill in the first event details:
    • what: Milestone: Research complete
    • when: Friday 10/16/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the starting day), click All Day Event
    • calendar: Select your project calendar from the drop down (i.e. 9th Grade Research Project Calendar)
    • description: You should complete all first and second hand research for your paper.
  3. Click Save. Now the milestone is set for 10/16 as an 'All Day' event.

For the first draft due date, you will also use an 'All Day' event on 11/16:
  1. Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
  2. Fill in the second activity details:
    • what: Deadline: First draft due
    • when: Monday 11/16/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the day), click All Day Event.
    • calendar: Select your project calendar from the drop down (i.e. 9th Grade Research Project Calendar)
    • description: First draft of your research paper is due for peer review.
  • Click Save. Now the deadline for the first draft is scheduled to appear on 11/16.

For the week of peer editing, you will use an 'All Day' event spanning multiple days:
  1. Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
  2. Fill in the third activity details:
    • what: Peer editing
    • when: Start - Monday 11/16/09 (click on the date to show a calendar and click the starting day you want this to occur). Click All Day Event. Then click the 'End' date to be Friday 11/19/09.
    • calendar: Select your project calendar from the drop down (i.e. 9th Grade Research Project Calendar)
    • description: Each 9th grader will peer review 2 first draft research papers.
  • Click Save. Now the peer editing time frame will span several days during the week of 11/16.

For the final due date, you will use an 'All Day' event for 12/18:
  1. Click the Create event link on the left side of your calendar window.
  2. Fill in the second activity details:
    • what: Deadline: Final paper due
    • when: Monday 12/18/09 (you can click on the date to show a calendar and click the day), click All Day Event.
    • calendar: Select your project calendar from the drop down (i.e. 9th Grade Research Project Calendar)
    • description: Final draft of your research paper is due for grading.
  • Click Save. Now the final due date is scheduled to appear on 12/18.
